Infinimist Necromancer Build Guide

Nate McKay
Infinimist Necromancer Build Guide

So you’ve decided to put together the ultimate Diablo IV Necromancer build, the legendary Infinimist! This build is nearly unstoppable, allowing you to damage enemies while permanently remaining safely inside your bloodmist, unable to take damage, while shredding everything around you. Today we’re going to cover what it takes to put this build together.

THE BUILD

The Gear

Perhaps the most important part of this build, you’ll need to assemble some specific aspects and uniques to even have a chance at making it work.

  • Helm
    • Aspect of Explosive Mist
      • This is easily one of the most important aspects for the build. It allows Blood Mist to auto-trigger corpse explosion for surrounding corpses. Importantly, each corpse detonated will reduce the cooldown of Blood Mist by 1 second. This is what enables the ability to infinitely use Blood Mist.
    • Affixes
      • Max life
      • Lucky Hit Chance while you have Barrier
      • Cooldown Reduction
      • Intelligence
  • Chest
    • Aspect of Disobedience
      • A solid defensive choice. Since you’re applying so much AOE damage you’ll stack this aspect immediately granting you an insane armor buff for the occasional instances where you don’t get a full Blood Mist reset.
    • Affixes
      • Max Life
      • Total Armor
      • Damage Reduction from Close
      • Damage Reduction from Shadow Damage Over Time Affected Enemies
  • Arms Unique: Howl From Below
    • This unique makes corpse explosion detonations release a volatile skeleton that charges at a random enemy and explodes as opposed to releasing the normal corpse explosion detonation. It also increases the damage of corpse explosion by 30-40%. Incredibly powerful for this build since it heavily increases the total DPS value you’re getting from Corpse Explosion.
  • Pants
    • Aspect of the Shielding Storm
      • This aspect grants barrier each time Bone Storm damages an enemy. You’ll be trying to activate Bone Storm in between Blood Mist casts so this provides some solid defensive value as well as a boost in damage by using the barrier-related affixes.
    • Affixes
      • Max Life
      • Damage Reduction from Close
      • Damage Reduction from Shadow Damage Over Time-Affected Enemies
      • Ranks of Corpse Explosion
  • Boots
    • Ghostwalker Aspect
      • Synergizes very well with Blood Mist, when unstoppable you’ll gain increased movement speed and the ability to move freely through enemies. Since Blood Mist grants unstoppable you’ll have high uptime on this aspect and the ability to move to more corpses faster.
    • Affixes
      • Movement Speed
      • Ranks of Corpse Tendrils
      • Intelligence
      • All Stats
  • Amulet
    • Blighted Aspect
      • This aspect grants increased damage after the shadowblight key passive damages enemies 10 times. Not only does this synergize well with the passive itself, since it increases damage to the 10th enemy impacted by shadowblight, but it also works very well with the build because you have so much shadow damage.
    • Affixes
      • Movement Speed
      • Ranks of all Corpse Skills
      • Ranks of Gloom Passive
      • Shadow Damage Over TIme
  • Ring
    • Aspect of Decay
      • Grants increased shadowblight passive damage per stack, synergizes well with the previous aspect and provides a solid boost to damage.
    • Affixes
      • Max Life
      • Damage to Close Enemies
      • Lucky Hit Chance
      • Critical Strike Chance
  • Ring 2
    • Aspect of Grasping Veins
      • Grants increased critical strike chance after using corpse tendrils, also grants increased critical strike damage to enemies damaged by corpse tendrils. Another powerful offensive choice since you’ll be using corpse tendrils on cooldown to pull enemies close to your infinimist.
    • Affixes
      • Max Life
      • Damage to Close Enemies
      • Lucky Hit Chance
      • Critical Strike Chance
  • Wand
    • Aspect of Ultimate Shadow
      • This is what brings all the previous shadow damage-enhancing aspects together. It makes Bone Storm a darkness skill, dealing shadow damage, enemies damaged by Bone Storm now take significant shadow damage over 2 seconds.
    • Affixes
      • Damage to Close Enemies
      • Intelligence
      • All Stats
      • Damage to Affected by Shadow Damage Over Time Enemies
  • Shield
    • Blood Soaked Aspect
      • The second way we incorporate shadow damage into the build this aspect makes Blood Mist leave a trail that lasts 4 seconds and deals shadow damage to enemies that stand it in. It also removes the movement speed penalty on Blood Mist. So now you’re move speed in Blood Mist is enhanced by Ghostwalker Aspect and the penalty is removed by this one.
    • Affixes
      • Lucky Hit Chance
      • Intelligence
      • Cooldown Reduction
      • Resistance to All Elements

The Skill Tree

  • Acolyte’s Reap
    • Taken for the additional corpse generation in the event that you have Blood Mist downtime.
  • Passive: Hewed Flesh
    • Important for even more corpse generation as it grants a lucky hit chance to create corpses, doubled against bosses
  • Blood Mist
    • The core part of this build, we spec into Ghastly Blood Mist for even more corpse generation.
  • Corpse Explosion
    • We take Blighted Corpse explosion for the additional shadow damage when the volatile skeletons land.
  • Decrepify
    • Used here for the solid CC and damage reduction we spec into Abhorrent Decrepify for the additional chance to reduce cooldowns and keep Blood Mist active
  • Corpse Tendrils
    • Taken to group enemies up close so we can maximize corpse explosion value. We spec into Plagued Corpse Tendrils for access to vulnerability.
  • Bone Storm
    • Taken for additional AOE damage and the increase to stats it provides when active.
  • Key Passive: Shadowblight
    • Since this build is heavy on the shadow damage Shadowblight is a no brainer, it provides a huge additional source of damage, and a percent damage increase after it is stacked.

Minions

  • Warriors
    • We go for the reaper sacrifice for the additional shadow damage.
  • Mages
    • Spec into the cold sacrifice for the increased damage to vulnerable enemies which is easy to take advantage of because of Plagued Corpse Tendrils.
  • Golem
    • Iron Sacrifice is taken here for the increased crit chance.

Vampiric Powers

  • Anticipation
    • Since Bone Storm is a huge source of AOE damage this power is super valuable, it reduced our Ultimate cooldown and grants increased damage to enemies taking damage over time effects, which our Bone Storm applies.
  • Prey on the Weak
    • Grants increased damage to Vulnerable enemies, always super valuable, especially since we can guarantee AOE application of vulnerable through corpse tendrils. Also grants an additional source of vulnerability through Vampiric Curse.
  • Flowing Veins
    • Grants increased damage over time to enemies affected by vampiric curse, valuable because this build applies a number of shadow damage DOTs.
  • Metamorphosis
    • Turns you into a cloud of bats when using evade, granting unstoppable for 4 seconds, dealing damage, and inflicting vampiric curse. This serves as a backup for when blood mist is down.
  • Domination
    • Grants increased damage to enemies impacted by slows, stuns, immobilizations, freezing effects, or fears.

Paragon

  • Starting Board
    • Here we grab all 4 rare nodes and Slot Scourge for the increased shadow damage over time.
  • Wither
    • Next we jump to the Wither Board, we grab Gnawing Darkness for the increased damage to shadow damage over time effected enemies, Gloom for the shadow resistance, Malediction for the increased shadow damage, Lingering Shadows for the increased shadow damage, Dragging Shadows for the damage reduction from shadow damage over time effected enemies, the Legendary node Wither for the massive increase to shadow damage, and then we slot Control for the increased damage to crowd controlled targets (powerful with corpse tendrils).
  • Flesh Eater
    • Here we Targeted for the damage to elites, Erudite for the resistance to all elements, Stifle for the damage to injured enemies. We take the legendary node Flesh Eater for the increased damage after detonating 5 corpses. We slot Darkness for the increased shadow damage.
  • Scent of Death
    • Doubling back, we attach this board to Wither. We take Deathmarked for the damage to injured enemies, Preservation for the armor, and Ruin for the damage to healthy enemies, we grab the legendary node Scent of Death for the increased damage or damage reduction depending on if there are corpses nearby. We slot Imbiber for the increased damage while healthy, super strong since you’ll be full health in Blood Mist most of the time.
  • Bone Graft
    • Attached to Flesh Eater we grab Shaper of Bone for the increased bone skill damage and slot Territorial for the increased damage to close targets and the damage reduction from close.

This covers our build guide for infinimist Necromancer. This build is easily one of the most fun and chaotic builds to play with constant uptime on Blood Mist and volatile skeletons running around on the screen blowing up. While this build might not sport the highest damage in the game it’s the fact that you can almost permanently remain in Blood Mist, untouchable, that makes it so powerful. Definitely use this build to push high-tier Nightmare Dungeons and more! For a link to the build in our calculator click here!
