Rogue Leveling Guide (1-50)

Overview

  • Puncture is our basic skill that we will use during downtime and to apply ‘Vulnerable’ to enemies (With Fundamental Puncture at level six). We will also use this to generate our energy to cast Twisting Blades.
  • Twisting Blades is our core skill. This is our primary damage dealer. It will impale an enemy with two blades, and the blades will return to you after a short delay. The idea of the playstyle is to use Twisting Blades on your Primary target and try to dash around and position yourself to hit as many enemies as possible when the blades return. The playstyle may take some getting used to, but once you get used to it you can clear rooms with no issue. This skill also has arguably the highest single-target damage in the game with inner sight and poison imbue.
  • At level 10 you will unlock combo points. Do the quest ASAP. Once you hit level 20, switch to Inner Sight.

Legendary Aspects:

Offensive:

  • Bladedancer’s Aspect is going to make your AoE clear much easier. This aspect is a guaranteed drop in Jalal's Vigil dungeon in Scosglen and is a priority for anyone doing this build. Try to pick up this aspect as soon as possible.

  • The next few legendaries were chosen due to the fact that they have incredible synergy with each other and some of the skill points we have distributed.
    • The first one we want to look at is the Aspect of Corruption. This makes our Imbuement Skills have increased potency against Vulnerable enemies. Since our build is purely melee, our puncture is going to guarantee vulnerability, making this aspect a massive damage increase. This aspect will be available in a dungeon in Kehjistan and is also a high-priority aspect to get your hands on as soon as possible.
  • Running Malice also increases our damage to Vulnerable enemies by 9%.
  • Since we are utilizing Shadow Clone as our ultimate, we want to run Aspect of Imitated Imbuement. This will make our Shadow Clone mimic our Poison Imbuement while also increasing their damage by a short percent. This will benefit from the Aspect of Corruption, so make sure you’re applying vulnerability before activating your Poison Imbue and your Shadow Clone for maximum damage.

  • The next aspect is the Aspect of Bursting Venoms. This aspect has a Lucky Hit chance to cause your Critical Strikes with Poison Imbued skills to create a toxic pool. If you stand in this pool, your Poison Imbuement has no Cooldown and no Charge limit. When playing this build, try to make sure you stay in these puddles as they spawn. As long as you are standing in this, you and your clone can just spam Poison Imbue and Twisting Blades. Inside of your Inner Sight uptime, this will do incredible amounts of damage.
  • This aspect synergizes very well with this build. First, we want to look at some of the free Critical Strike Chance we get out of this build. The first is Precision Imbuement, which just gives our Imbues a flat increased Critical Strike Chance.
  • The next is Countering Dark Shroud, which also gives us a flat increased Critical Strike Chance while we have at least 4 active shadows.
  • We also increase our Lucky Hit Chance when we spend energy with the Second Wind passive, increasing our chance to proc Aspect of Bursting Venoms.
  • On top of this, we get even more Lucky Hit Chance from Non-Physical damage with Alchemist’s Fortune. This will apply on our Poison Imbued skills.
  • This also increases our chance to proc our Victimize (Key Passive) explosions. Since we have guaranteed Vulnerability on top of increased Lucky Hit Chance, Victimize is going to give us a lot of extra damage for both single target and AoE.
  • Another incredible Offensive option for this build is Edgemaster’s Aspect. Since we are running Inner Sight, we will gain the maximum benefit of this aspect in that 4 second window of unlimited energy for some incredible damage. This aspect can be found in the Oldstones dungeon in Scosglen. This is debatably one of the more important aspects in the game that many builds will utilize, so try to grab this one as soon as possible.

  • Another incredible source of damage is going to be the Accelerating Aspect. This makes our Critical Strikes with Core Skills increase your Attack Speed. Inside of Inner Sight, this is going to give us a lot of damage since we are going to be unloading as many Twisting Blades into our target in our 4 second window.
  • The last aspect will be the Aspect of Unstable Imbuements. This will cause you to trigger a poison explosion around you and apply the Imbuement effect. Standing in our toxic pools will allow us to constantly trigger these explosions and give us extra AoE. This aspect is strong early and can be found in a dungeon in the Dry Steppes. This should go in your glove slot for the reason that it is not as important as the others listed. The reason for this is because we are going to be chasing the Unique gloves called Grasp of Shadow, which gives us a Lucky Hit Chance against Vulnerable enemies to summon a Shadow Clone to mimic our attacks.

Defensive:

  • One great source of extra damage reduction comes from the Enshrouding Aspect, which causes our Dark Shroud to grant increased Damage Reduction. It also generates a free shadow every 3 seconds when standing still, but this build requires you to move around a lot so we don't get much use out of that effect. This can be found in the Ghoa Ruins dungeon in Hawezar.
  • One of my favorite aspects that I found in the beta was the Aspect of Siphoned Victuals. This gives us a lucky hit chance against Vulnerable enemies with our Core Skills to drop a Healing Potion. When using this aspect, I never ran out of healing potions and was quite surprised at how often these were dropping, especially in our Inner Sight window when we are unloading Twisting Blades into our target. This can be found in Leviathan’s Maw in Hawezar.
  • The last defensive slot has a few options. If you feel too squishy, Aspect of Might grants us flat Damage Reduction when using our Basic Skill (Puncture). This will have very high uptime since we are constantly trying to reapply Vulnerability to our target with puncture.
  • If you feel like you don’t need the 20% Damage Reduction, another choice is Aspect of Cruel Sustenance. This causes our Victimize Key Passive to heal us for each enemy hit. Due to our high Lucky Hit Chance, this option may be a fantastic defensive option for us.

Mobility

  • For mobility, I think the best option is Wind Striker Aspect. This gives us a burst of movement speed when Critically Striking. This just gives some quality of life when we are kiting around and trying to position for our Twisting Blades
