Sorcerer: Enchantment System and Questline

How to Unlock the Enchantment System

Upon reaching level 15, the Sorcerer will receive a Priority Quest called “Legacy of the Magi.” The questline is quite short and will give you access to the Enchantment Slots. Upon reaching level 30, you will instantly gain access to another slot. These slots will allow you to place any ability, regardless of whether you use it or not, and gain a powerful additional effect. There are many ways to mix and match these to fit to your build, and we will provide some popular examples.

Enchantment Slots

Any skill, excluding Ultimates, can be placed into these slots to provide with build defining benefits for your character. In order to use a skill in an enchantment slot, you must allocate points to it. To equip them in an enchantment slot, press ‘S’ to open the menu and simply drag and drop your desired spell into the enchantment slot.

Enchantment Slot Examples

In the early levels, depending on your build, Fireball is always a popular option since it adds a significant amount of AoE clear. This seems to be the go-to for most leveling builds. Ice Shards players can also use Ice Shards as their Enchantment to make Frost Nova an extremely potent AoE ability. A cool interaction for this Enchantment is that if you are in a Party, any member of the Party that kills something will trigger the explosion. Regardless of whether or not you dealt any damage to it.

For my build, my Sorcerer is currently level 71, and I have gotten to the point where I am able to drop the Fireball Enchantment for Fire Bolt. This is because I have enough Mana Regeneration to no longer take Avalanche as my Key Passive. I can now take Shatter to make up for the AoE loss of Fireball and switch over to Fire Bolt, allowing me to take advantage of Paragon Nodes and other stats involving Burning Enemies. Especially the passive Devouring Blaze, which is its own multiplicative increase to Critical Strike Damage.

For Hardcore players, Flame Shield is a popular choice. This is because it will give the Sorcerer a free Cheat Death. This comes at the sacrifice of damage but can be a great early-game option.
